B.R.I.D.G.E. To Adulthood

The B.R.I.D.G.E. To Adulthood program is a functional program which focuses on vocational and life skills training, for adult students that have completed academic graduation requirements. The program is for individuals who have not yet received their high school diploma. 

Each participant’s day is individualized. One person may benefit from more employment opportunities while the other requires a focus on personal safety. 

    • Participants will take part in an unpaid community based job training program for 2-5 days per week for 1-5 hours per day.
      • This is based on the current skills and needs of the participant.
      • Some people will prepare to work in the community through jobs housed within Bridgeway Academy.
    • Participants will work towards career planning proficiency.
      • Resume Writing, Completing an Application, Locating a Job that Aligns with Preferences, Strengths & Interests, Interview Skills
    • Participants build their level of independence in activities of daily living.
      • Hygiene and Grooming, Appropriate Dress, Functional Mobility, Toileting Skills, Feeding Skills
    • Participants build their level of independence in instrumental activities of daily living. 
      • Traveling, Personal Safety, School/Work Related Skills, Meal Preparation, Housework/Chores, Managing Money and Shopping

All of the academics built into the B.R.I.D.G.E. to Adulthood program are functional. For example:

  • Budgeting=Functional Math
  • Creating a Resume=Functional Writing
  • Understanding Job Descriptions=Functional Reading

The B.R.I.D.G.E. to Adulthood Program runs on the same schedule as Bridgeway Academy’s education programs.
